Recommended Activities: 30–40 minutes (including waiting for the boat)Crowdedness: ModerateAdmission: 15 yuan per person

🏛️ Attraction Overview

The Liangjiang Ferry is Chongqing’s most romantic way to experience the Yangtze River—a 15-yuan retro ferry ride from Hongyadong Pier to Danzishi Pier that takes about 10–20 minutes. Along the way, you’ll pass Hongyadong, Qiansimen Bridge, and the confluence of the Yangtze and Jialing Rivers at Chaotianmen. Take the last ferry to watch the sunset cast its glow over the confluence of the two rivers.

✨ Why It’s Worth a Visit

It’s cheaper than the Yangtze River Cable Car (15 yuan vs. 20 yuan), less crowded, and offers a more complete view—you can take in the confluence of the two rivers, Hongyadong, the bridge, and the sunset all at once. Locals say the Xiaodu Ferry is a better value than the cable car.

Practical Tips

Board the boat at Hongya Cave Pier 3

The pier is located by the river below the 11th floor of Hongyadong; take the elevator down from Hongyadong.

Take photos of the sunset from the west side of the deck

The setting sun is directly opposite Qiansimen Bridge; shooting against the light creates a glowing effect on your hair.

Common Mistakes

Go on a rainy day

Not realizing that the ferry stops running on rainy days.

Consequences: You’ll find the ferry service suspended when you get to the pier. Check the weather in advance.
