Hangzhou Metro Guide

Hangzhou Metro has 12 lines. Get the “Hangzhou Metro Ride Code” on Alipay.Direct Access to Attractions: Line 1 – Longxiangqiao Station (5-minute walk to West Lake); Line 3 – Huanglong Sports Center (transfer to a bus to reach Lingyin Temple); Line 4 – Shuichengqiao Station (Leifeng Pagoda); Line 10 – Beidaqiao Station (Xiaohe Zhijie); Line 19 – Xixi Wetland South Station. Bike-sharing services cover the entire city (bicycles are prohibited on Su Causeway and Bai Causeway!).

Pro Tips

  • 5-minute walk from Longxiangqiao Station to West Lake
  • Shared bikes are prohibited on Su Causeway and Bai Causeway
  • There is no direct subway service to Lingyin Temple; you must transfer to a bus

Taxis & Didi

Base fare: 11 yuan (3 km). Didi is integrated into the Alipay app. Short-distance rides within the city cost 15–30 yuan; a ride from downtown to Xiaoshan Airport costs 100–120 yuan (about 40 minutes). It’s difficult to hail a taxi near tourist attractions during peak hours; we recommend taking the subway and then a shared bike.

Airport Shuttle Guide

Xiaoshan International Airport (HGH): Metro Line 19 runs directly to the city center (about 50 minutes, 8 yuan). A taxi ride costs 100–120 yuan (about 40 minutes). Airport shuttles cost 20 yuan and offer multiple routes covering the city center. The airport is about 30 kilometers from the city center.

High-Speed Rail Guide

Hangzhou has three high-speed rail stations. Hangzhou East Station: The largest, serving the Shanghai–Hangzhou, Hangzhou–Ningbo, and Hangzhou–Huangshan high-speed rail lines; takes 20 minutes to reach the city center via Line 1. Hangzhou Station: The city’s main station, located in the city center; takes 5 minutes to reach the city center via Line 1. Hangzhou West Station: Serves the Hangzhou–Wenzhou and Hefei–Hangzhou high-speed rail lines; takes 25 minutes to reach the city center via Line 1. Hangzhou East Station is the top choice as it offers the most train services.
