Guangzhou’s dim sum is one of the most exquisite breakfast experiences in the world—basket after basket of delicate pastries: translucent shrimp dumplings, juicy shumai, silky-smooth rice rolls, and tender, flavorful chicken feet. Paired with a pot of Pu’er tea or Tieguanyin, you can sit and chat while eating from morning until noon.

Wonton Noodles

Wonton NoodlesWonton Noodles

A good bowl of wonton noodles—the silver-thread noodles, hand-rolled with a bamboo rod, are firm and springy; the fresh shrimp wontons have thin wrappers and generous fillings (at least 50% shrimp); and the broth, simmered with dried fish, is clear, fresh, and sweet. This is the most everyday yet most meticulously prepared bowl of noodles for Guangzhou locals.
